Poviat is part of the vast Region of Mazovia. The great Wołomin
Plain is naturally diverse, show-casing forests, coppices
and dunes and criss-crossed by lazily running rivers. In the
past the area was covered by vast woodlands, which is proved
today by the remains of the Słupecka, Kamieniecka, Jadowska
and Sulejowska primeval forests of Mazovia as well as many
ancient natural phenomena. The southern part of Poland including Kurpie, Mazovia and Podlasie and called "Green lungs of Poland" abound with large number of beautiful regions amazing their pure richness and variety of flora and fauna. Especially such a part of that region as The Nadbuzanski Landscape Park distinguishes it among others. This park was established in 1993 to protect natural values of the unique Bug River Valley and also to promote
ecodevelopment of the area. This reserve is situated only 40 km away from Warsaw, it stretches towards the eastern country borderland and comprises 85 km of the Bug River, a part of the Narew River Valley, large piece of Biala Primeval Forest and Lochów and Ceranów
forest. |

The Grabicz Reserve

One of the most attractive natural and tourist highlights is the "Śliże" reserve. It is a peat
reserve established in 1981 covering the area of 44.29 ha. It contains two smali dystrophic lakes, which were formed as a result of stripping the peat. The reserve features several protected plant species such as common sundew, common white water lily, marsh tea, lily of the valley, and alder buckthorn. There are also nests of mute swans, ducks and other waterfowl.
