Manors and palaces

    In this site, you can find some of castles and palaces of the Poviat Wolomin.  Some of these buildings are house government offices and hotels. Some of them open for visits, meetings, receptions. Some of them are private-owned and not open to the public.

Manor in Głuchy

     Cyprian Kamil Norwid was born here. Now private property of Beata Tyszkiewicz and Andrzej Wajda.

 

Manor in Jaktory - Chajety

     Private owners of a manor house of Jaktory-Chajęty refurbished the structure, bringing back its former magnificence. These efforts were appreciated by the Ministry of Culture and Art, which presented them with an award.

     

The palace Chrzęstne

     The palace was erected in 1635. The Koskowskis – the last family who owned the house bought it in 1895. It was a beginning of intensive contacts between the palace dwellers and Warsaw artists. The most interesting person connected with the Koskowski’s family was Miłosz Kotarbiński (1854-1945), painter and illustrator. Another artist connected with Chrzęsne was Julian Maszyński (1847-1901). He was a painter, member of the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts History. Chrzęsne often hosted people from the world of culture, science and art. The most famous of them was a prominent Polish impressionist Władysław Podkowiński.

Manor in Slęzany

     An eclectic palace of Ślężany, built ca. 1880, is a real treasure of the region. The original structure of the palace was erected in the 16th century. Its present owner, PKO BP, restored the facility with the utmost care and furnished it with a period decor. Former splendor was restored to the surrounding park as well.
