Region of Częstochowa is situated on the border of three big historical regions: Małopolska, Wielkopolska and Silesia. Czestochowa was connected historically with other bigger regions. Once it was the periphery of Ziemia Krakowska (Cracow Region), Czestochowa Region is situated on the border of 3 big, historical regions of Lower Poland, Greater Poland and Silesia. Historically, Czestochowa was related to various bigger units. It was a peripheral area of Cracow Region. It was under the reign od Prussia, it was an administartive area of Kalisz Region, it was a part of Wielun area and Warsaw Guberniya, later Kalisz Guberniya. In independent Poland it was a part of Kielce Region. Due to this reason, the region is various and diverse from place to place. Folk clture has a lot in common with other adjoining regions.
In this area there are big pilgrimage places: Jasna Góra, ¦więta Anna, Gidle. People who went there exchanged information about other regions, clothes and customs; therefore some models were incorporated and adjusted.
