Church in Jarantowice

The church made of wood isn't the first one in Jarantowice. The first which were made by the Teutonic Order has been destroyd in the 15th century. There is no traces about it, only notes that the church existed. The notes about it beginns in 1445.
This church made of wood was made in the gorge of the 17th and 18th century. At the beginning there was no tower. The church is made of wood, the roof is made of straw. The construction of the roof isn't typical for those times. The church belonged to the Protestants to 1945. Next it was a place of magazine the crops. Later there was a gym.
In 1956 the church was registered in the district list of the monuments. After 1989 it was given to the Wąbrzeźno parish. On 28th October 1989 bishop Marian Przykucki blessed the church and dedicated it to Father Maksymilian Kolbe. Condition of the church wasn't good in spite of the repair works every year. That state changed in 1992 when priest Jan Kalinowski became a main priest of the Wąbrzeźno parish. He wanted to repair all church. Thanks to him the Fundation of the Monuments Protection wrote a note about the condition of the church. In that note was written all methods of repairing the church. Costs were so high that the Ministry had to give the money for the big repair. The church was blessed again on 12th October 2006. Today it's a great example of the beauty of Ziemia Chełmińska and normal church too.
