The aim of our action is playing life of former Slavs and other tribes which lived on the areas of contemporary Poland in IX an X ages.
Officialy our organization became to exist in 2000, however the beginning of our team took place in the half of 90s. When move of Slavs and Vikings borned in Poland. The maker of this team was Przemysław Kubiczek who is the chief of our team since that time.
We've been trying to get some grounds in Toruń for a few years. We want to build a fortified town. There is still long way to achieve this. With the grounds and money from the EU we could make a centrum of experimental archeology.
Life of a warrior beginns in winter evenings. Then we make our equpiments and elements of armament. One element of the armament can be made for all winter. Harmonograme of activities is different on each festival. After we arrive, we must prepare places for sleep and accumulate wood for making a fire. In the morning we always train in pairs and in groups. After that we help girls in preparing some food. People who organize plan individual and group battles. we spend evenings with members of other knights and warriors groups. In the day there are always some entertaiments for tourists.
The most important and the biggest festival for the lovers of the early middle ages is a festival of Slavs and Vikings on Wolin. There are about 1500 people from all over the Europe every year. There are teams from England, Scandinavia, Russia, Belaruss, Ukraine etc. Besides this, we got o Biskupin, cedynia, Rynia and Zbucz too. We go on festivals abroad too, for example to Norwegy, Germany, Lithuania.
There are 9 members of our team. As the Team of Warriors we don't officialy register women.
We find new members by information in schools, on UMK and by our website. There's quite long way to become the member of our team. Young man must show that he's interested in team's life. His candidature is noted by the members of the team.
The main way to popularize the history is joining archeological events. As the team we organize the archeological festival called „Battle in Grodno&rdquo. That event take place in Zalesie near Chełmża every year. Information in media make people not just from Chełmża are there. Tourists can see a Slavs village which we make.They can see how craftmen work and they can see an inscenization of Bolesław Chrobry's intervention on Ziemia Chełmińska. In that battle fight other teams too. Last year we were on the 4th Days of Culture of Middle Ages in Świecie. Every year other team interested in early middle ages take part in this event. In 2005 we took part in series of events organized in Toruń. Other way of popularizing the history is organizing in schools lessons of „wild history”. The Agency of Historical Shows is busy on the commercial part of our team.
