A Real Scene Stealer

The Kaszubski Landscape Park, with an area of 346 sq km, stretches between Kartuzy, Strzepcz and Stężyca and embraces the highest and most diversified part of the central Kaszuby Lake Region. The park owes its unique character to its numerous lakes and small ponds.

Due to improvements in tourist infrastructure, it is both a local recreation area for Gdańsk-Sopot-Gdynia Tricity residents and for tourists from all over Poland, and agrotourism facilities attract foreign guests. For water lovers, the park offers kayaking and sailing, a variety of bike paths are available to cyclists, and numerous hiking routes and beaches and recreation centers are enjoyed by all manner of vacationers.

Kashuby are very beautiful

The Kaszubski Landscape Park also attracts nature lovers with its nine nature reserves featuring beautiful Pomeranian beech forests and rare specimens of flora and fauna. The Radunia River Gorge, with the river flowing like a mountain stream through a deep ravine, is one of the park's most attractive views.

If you want to see a real beautiful, arrive here

The striking beauty of the area is the result of the activity of continental glaciers, which carved out deep valleys and created rivers and lakes. One of the most beautiful areas is that of the nine lakes-Stężyckie, Raduńskie Górne and Dolne, Kłodno, Małe Brodno, Wielkie Brodno, Ostrzyckie, Patulskie, Dąbrowskie and Lubowisko-and six others in their vicinity.

This route, without side trips to the reservoirs of neighboring lakes, is about 44 km. The terrain is also excellent for bicycle trips. Riders will have no problems renting a bicycle, as many guest houses and recreation centers have their own bicycle rental services.

When making plans for the summer it's worth considering the Kaszuby region's agrotourism offers. The region's well-prepared agrotourism farms provide services for foreign guests. For more information, please contact the headquarters of local commune authorities.

Horse-drawn cart rides are also popular along the Droga Kaszubska road, allowing you to admire the finest panoramas of the Kaszuby region. The 22-km route leads through Chmielno, Ręboszewo, Złota Góra, Brodnica Dolna and Ostrzyce to the foot of the region's highest hill, Wieżyca. At the foothill of Wieżyca is the Kaszuby People's University, housing an exposition of contemporary art from the region.

A real magic

It's worth stopping in Chmielno to see a pottery workshop run for nine generations by the Necel family. Under a master's expert eye, you can even make your own clay pot. In Ostrzyce is an old Kaszubian hut, while near Stężyca you can visit the stone circles or an old cemetery left by Scandinavians who visited here in the 1st and 2nd centuries.

The Kaszuby region abounds in beautiful scenery and is a real paradise for photographers. From the 30-m-high tower built last year on the top of Wieżyca (328.6 m above sea level) is a great panorama of the so-called Szwajcaria Kaszubska (Kashubian Switzerland). From the top of Jastrzębia Góra (227 m above sea level) near Brodnica Dolna, a view of Ostrzyckie Lake is possible, while from the nearby Złota Góra (210 m above sea level) Wielkie Brodno and Ostrzyckie Lakes and the Szymbarskie Hills are visible. Góra Tamowa (224 m above sea level) offers a view of Chmielno and the surrounding lakes.

It's worth going to Kartuzy to visit the Kashubian Museum and the historical complex including a former monastery and a Gothic church with an unusual, coffin-shaped roof. The road from Kartuzy in the direction of Gdańsk will take you to Żukowo, home to a Gothic convent of the Norbertine nuns, whose embroidery made the Kaszuby region famous throughout Europe. Another place of interest is Bytów, situated about 20 km from the landscape park's western border, featuring a beautiful 14th-century Teutonic Knight castle.

Vacations in any of the summer resorts of the Kaszuby Landscape Park will certainly be memorable. There's plenty to do no matter what the weather.
