Kashubian Cuisine

If you would like to try typical Kashubian dishes, you must ask for "bulwe z maslanka" - potatoes served with buttermilk. Since the whole region is on the Baltic Sea and is full of lakes, fish dishes are also extremely popular in all forms: fried, smoked, boiled, or grilled. Another tasty culinary tradition in Kashubia is "plince", potato pancakes served with either sugar or cream and crop coffee. The most typical Kashubian soup is fruit soup or "zupa brzadowo" made of dried and fresh fruit: apples, cherries, and plums. If you go to a Kashubian bakery and ask for "szneka z glancem" you will get a sweet yeast bun which is also a type of culinary symbol in Kashubia-your taste buds will certainly not be disappointed.

Mestwin

You can try typical Kashubian dishes in a restaurant Tawerna Mestwin at Straganiarska Street in Gdansk. These photos are taken from their web site: www.tawernamestwin.pl/tawerna.php. This text is wiritten by our friend Pawel Szczypta.
